With the mission of achieving excellence in legal education and addressing the growing need for legal services in the Yavatmal district, Vidya Prasarak Mandal established the Faculty of Law in 1962. In the academic year 2004–05, this faculty was transformed into a full-fledged law college and named Amolakchand Vidhi Mahavidyalaya. In honour of Late Shri Jawaharlalji Darda—a veteran freedom fighter, eminent social reformer, staunch Gandhian, and a visionary who believed in the transformative power of education—the college was later renamed Swatantrya Senani Jawaharlal Darda College of Law, Yavatmal.
As the first and only co-educational institution offering legal education in the Yavatmal district since 1962, the college has a proud legacy of producing distinguished lawyers, judges, jurists, legal scholars, and consultants who have made significant contributions across legal, social, economic, and political spheres.
The institution offers a wide range of full-time academic programs: LL.B. (3 Years), B.A. LL.B. (5 Years Integrated), LL.M. (2 Years), Postgraduate Diplomas (1 Year) and Ph.D. Research Centre in Law
The college has been privileged to host eminent personalities, including the President of India, Vice-President of India, Judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts, Advocate Generals, and other notable constitutional experts, whose visits have greatly enriched the academic environment and inspired our students.
